# Teachers: prepare, explain and adapt

Maahir — A Server4Sale Initiative
Proposed programme discussion brief | 7 October 2026

## Audience
Teachers, tutors, community educators, schools and organizations supporting teacher development.

## Need
Generating a worksheet is easy; checking that it teaches the right idea to the right learner is harder. Educators need practice selecting, correcting and adapting AI suggestions.

## Proposed goal
Prepare a reviewed lesson plan, an alternative explanation and a way to check understanding.

## How learning could work
1. **Start with the lesson objective:** Use the teaching-mastery approach to specify what a learner should understand or be able to do, their starting knowledge and available time.
2. **Inspect and improve a plan:** The reviewed Anatomy of a Lesson Plan exercise covers objectives, warm-up, input, guided practice, independent practice, assessment and closure. Identify a weak part and propose a fix.
3. **Rehearse the explanation:** Prepare an everyday example and an alternative for a learner who is stuck. Practice patient questioning and a short explanation, then inspect accuracy and tone.
4. **Check understanding and revise:** Solve the questions yourself and ask for an explanation rather than copying. Adapt after feedback and keep student identities out of unapproved tools.

## Illustrative practice situation
A student can repeat the rule for fractions but cannot explain why one half is larger than one quarter.

Example response (authored, not a learner transcript): “Let us use two equal-sized circles. If each is shared equally, how many pieces make the whole? Show me the piece you think is larger and explain why.”

Review: Does the example match the concept? Can the student apply it to a new example? AI suggestions require the teacher’s review and do not establish learning on their own.

## Possible outputs
- A timed lesson plan with a reasoned improvement
- An alternative explanation and checked questions
- A short reflection on what to change next

## Support to discuss
Educator reviewers, appropriate subject context, protected practice time and school approval. Agree privacy and safeguarding expectations before using any classroom material.

## Proposed measurement
Review lesson alignment, correctness, age suitability and checks for understanding. Teacher practice is not proof of improved pupil attainment; that requires a separate evaluation.

## SDG alignment — not endorsement
- Goal 4, target 4.c: Teacher development theme; not formal qualification — https://sdgs.un.org/goals/goal4

## Boundaries
AI does not replace professional judgement, specialist support or responsibility for pupils. Use fictional learner examples and confirm relevant tool age requirements.

Confirm audience, schedule, responsibilities, support availability, costs, safeguards and evidence before delivery. No agreement or funding commitment is implied.
