Help a child explain—not only finish

A child wants AI to provide the finished answer, while the parent wants them to understand the idea.

The practice brief

Use an age-appropriate small project to invite predictions, testing and explanation.

AI can support preparation and feedback. The learner still makes an attempt, checks the work and explains the choices.

  1. Ask the child what they think will happen before trying the activity.
  2. Use a hint or alternative explanation rather than a completed answer.
  3. Let the child describe what changed and why in their own words.

A starting prompt to adapt

Ask for practice.
Not just an answer.

Help me guide a simple cardboard-bridge learning activity for my child. Ask their age and available materials. Offer questions and safe, age-appropriate hints, not a finished school submission.

Use fictional or approved information. Adjust the prompt to your context and the tools available in your learning route.

The human situation

What would you say next?

Pause and make your own attempt before opening the example. There is more than one appropriate response.

“Can you just tell me the answer?”

“Let’s test your idea first. What do you predict will happen if we change this part?”

Review the attempt: Can the child explain the result and ask a new question?

Something you can show

A small project, an explanation and a next question.

Your next step

Use appropriate supervision and follow school rules about AI-assisted work.

Keep the first attempt and the improvement. Explain what changed, what you checked and what still needs support.

Thinking about enrolling?

Make this your starting point.

Start with this practical goal: A small project, an explanation and a next question. This is a suggested learning goal, not a promised enrollment outcome.

1. Bring a real question

Describe what you want to improve and what you have already tried. Use fictional or anonymised examples, not private client, student or workplace records.

2. Try the learning experience

Explore the demo. Start with AI foundations if the tools are new to you, then look for a relevant exercise, role-play or practice format. Check the activity on your device.

3. Register and choose a next step

Use the registration page to review the current intake and requirements. Plan time to attempt, check and improve your work. Confirm any coaching or access support you need.
